The Project:

This 66,000 square foot building was designed to minimize its impact on a somewhat restricted site.  Building forms including splayed and curved wall planes, deep overhangs and sloped brick sills were designed to reduce the building mass.  Building overhangs are supported on freestanding round brick columns.  These, together with round columns at building corners and along the lower level wall surfaces, add an organic quality to the building masses, which only serve to enhance the design concept of being as one with the site.

Special brick shapes were used for all exterior columns, as well as for window sills, while brick soldier courses march around the building perimeter.  All of these elements add texture, depth, color and visual interest to the building.  The building was sited to take advantage of the breathtaking views of the natural wildlife preserve.  Building materials of brick and glass were selected to harmonize with the site landscaping, as well as with the adjacent building.  The result is a building of outstanding quality, which visually and texturally blends beautifully into its surroundings.
