Project Description:

This was a total renovation of an aged manufacturing facility into a state-of-the-art Training Center and Conference Facility for the Travelers Claim Division. The 110,000 square foot Claim University serves as a hands-on classroom and exhibit space for the Travelers Auto/Home Property Casualty business nationally. Along with seven state-of-the-art classrooms, the facility provides “hands-on” training in two large laboratory environments.  The Property Lab includes two full-size homes, a convenience store and 40 large mock-ups to demonstrate a wide variety of different construction types and details.  The Auto Lab includes more than 40 vehicles with different types of damage, an area for damaged trucks and construction equipment, a video studio for recording practice sessions with vendors and a large demonstration area which allows students to have a “hands-on” experience in auto-body repair.  All of the training rooms include A/V technology to support the recording and/or broadcasting of training sessions.  Approximately 10,000 claim adjusters are involved in training sessions provided by Travelers Claim University in a given year.  Of that total, approximately 5,000 of those classes are provided through distance learning.
