The Project:
Impact Plastics is a leader in the custom sheet extrusion industry. They specialize in the manufacture of high efficiency, tight tolerance, thin-gauge extruded sheet and roll stock. Their diverse product offering of commodity thermoplastic resin materials are highly customizable and suitable for a variety of end use applications.
In order to increase production in their 60,000 Sq.Ft. manufacturing facility, the owner’s realized that they were in need of high-bay warehouse space and increased space for manufacturing equipment. The existing office space was occupying, what could be, valuable manufacturing space. This project involved the design of a building addition which included a high-bay warehouse that would provide a better facility to organize finished product. An addition to the building also included a two-story office to accommodate the growing number of management staff and provide improved space for customer meetings. The exterior of the addition utilized a combination of aluminum panels and glass curtain wall on a masonry base. Flowing curves and “ribbons” at the entry element reflect the look and feel of the types of products manufactured by Impact Plastics.
