Project Description:

Farmington Savings Bank desired a complete gut renovation of an historic building at a critical intersection in West Hartford Center in order to create a signature retail bank branch.  Our firm provided architectural and interior design as well as engineering services.

Located at 962 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford Center, this project entailed both interior and exterior renovations to a nearly 5,000 square foot tenant space.  In keeping with its high-visibility location, the design for the branch bank features rich yet understated materials on its exterior:  Patinated standing seam copper roofing, flush glazing and brass door hardware, as well as built-up wood architrave, frieze and cornice details.  Within the lobby, the eye is immediately drawn to the luminous ceiling with its sinuous forms and overlapping waves of art glass.  The teller line is composed primarily of maple and cherry, with accents in glass and brass; the design provides for universal accessibility.  Opposite the teller line are offices, a conference room, and an investment center; each trimmed out in solid cherry.
